 In 1956, 10 cattle producers had a vision to start an cattle auction mart in Ashern. In 1957, the auction mart was started with each of the 10 cattle producers signing a $10,000 bank note.
The first sale was held on September 22, 1957 and in 1958 the ICCA became a cooperative.
All animals sold are subject to a selling commission on a per head basis:
- Feeders $10
- Cows $12
- Bulls $20
- Bred Cows $20 plus cost of advertising
- Cow/Calf Pairs $22 plus cost of advertising
- Other Livestock $10
